The TRS Video

When I began to learn the native fighting art, sharing it was the last thing on my mind. I was enthralled with the idea of learning the art of the warpath from a historical perspective, because I was partially of Native decent. I was also completely fascinated at how intricately nature was woven into the fabric of each lesson. The art was nothing like I thought it would be. Where I had sought violence, I had actually found serenity and compassion. It had very little in common with other arts that I had practiced and took a lot of "unlearning" before I grasped its finer points.

I had been approached with the idea of doing a video several times, but had rejected the idea due to the fact that I don't like getting involved in politics and controversy. I do what I do because I enjoy it, and because it gives me a sense of personal history. It is as simple as that.

Over the years I have watched and listened as various individuals demonstrate Native warrior arts that are obviously refurbished Asian martial arts. In all honesty I don't really care who teaches what - nor do I dispute their claims. I just thought it was time to show what we do and let those who seek make their own decisions concerning authenticity. There are thousands of people that have at least partial Native heritage that have never sat foot on tribal grounds nor spoken to an elder. This video is for them. It is one look into old ways of the Native fighting art.

The advertisements concerning the video may or may not accurately depict its message and or contents, as I have very little control over that. I apologize to anyone that was offended by the contents of the ad. I do believe that the video, when viewed, stands on its own merit as a valid representation of historical Native fighting skills. These methods are quite unique and to my knowledge are being viewed by the public for the first time in hundreds of years. Judging by the emails that I have received from viewers, the video is being well received. If you want to order the video at this time, you can do so through TRS Direct .

For any reader who is unfamiliar with the Video, it is available through TRS and covers empty-handed combat and weaponry. We have also discussed future video projects that should prove to be very interesting subject matter.
